The Intel Xeon Gold 5520+ is an Emerald Rapids processor built for high-density dual-socket servers, offering 28 cores and 56 threads with a 2.2 GHz base clock and turbo frequencies up to 4.0 GHz. Its balanced architecture makes it effective in virtualization clusters, Kubernetes deployments, analytics pipelines and distributed enterprise workloads.
The CPU features 2 MB of L2 cache per core and a shared 52.5 MB L3 cache, improving overall stability in workloads that involve complex memory access patterns. Distributed search engines, multi-tenant virtualization, telemetry ingestion and real-time data processing benefit from this cache design.
With support for eight-channel DDR5 memory up to 4400–4800 MT/s, the processor delivers significantly higher bandwidth than DDR4 systems. Memory-intensive applications, including distributed OLAP and OLTP engines, JVM-based microservices, in-memory databases and streaming analytics systems, see noticeably lower latency and improved throughput.
